"40 Under 40" Awards Dinner

New Leaders Council (NLC) works to train and promote the progressive political entrepreneurs of tomorrow — trendsetters, elected officials and civically-engaged leaders in business and industry who will shape the future landscape. NLC recruits young men and women from outside traditional power structures and equips them with the skills necessary to be civic leaders in their communities and workplaces.

Our mission is realized primarily through the NLC Institute; the nation’s premiere political entrepreneurship training program that is building teams of outstanding young professionals in 20 cities across the country.

NLC graduates are an ever-expanding corps of diverse, new progressive leaders who are rising to the top of their respective fields. NLC is creating an exciting network of individuals, highly-skilled in working together across sectors to improve the progressive infrastructure and ensure strong democracy, social justice, and equal opportunity.

Each year, New Leaders Council (NLC) presents the "40 Under 40" Awards as a way to honor the work of young, professional leaders who have exemplified our organization’s ideal of political entrepreneurship.

First given in 2008 to outstanding leaders under the age of 40, the award recognizes achievements in four categories: Political Leadership, Media Leadership, Advocacy, and Entrepreneurship. Honorees are nominated by influential members of the NLC community and selected by our panel of esteemed judges.

You will be treated to a delicious buffet of pan-Asian cuisine, as well as a thought-provoking and inspiring presentation by Charles Cole, III; 2011 NLC SF alum, and Bay Area Program Director of Juma Ventures based in California.
