DCHL 2014 Spring Season begins 03/23/2014!

The largest local ball hockey league (DCHL) begins ours 2014 Spring Season on Sunday, March 23rd, 2014! The season goes from 03/23/2014 to 06/29/2014.

We will add 2 NEW TEAMS! We have a waiting list. Goalies and female players have higher priority on waiting list.

This will give us 24 teams --- our biggest ever thus making us the largest single day floor hockey league in MD/VA/DC!

Come join us if you want to play in a real NHL like regulation size rink in a real NHL like format. Average cost to play is $85 per person for a team with 13 players for the entire 10 game season. You can put together a new team. Cost is $1050 per team for the season. We do have an early bird discount if you pay as a team by 03/09/2014.

NOTE: We created three division so you can play three times if you are a goalie or women. You can play twice if you are a male. Separate fees apply.

Here are the league specifics:  The league plays on Sunday afternoon and evenings in Rockville at the Rockville Sportsplex (60 Southlawn Ct. Games are held between 12 pm – 10 pm. This is the largest INDOOR hockey venue around. We play in practically a REGULATION style rink with plenty of room and action. Full cardio! REAL HOCKEY! Click on this underlined link to get full info on our venue – Rockville Sportsplex!  

1. It would be 5 on 5 co-ed hockey plus a goalie with at least TWO females on the floor at all times. We play the NHL game with mostly NHL rules such as offsides and hybrid icing except when it comes to safety and recreational principles.  
2. Games will consist of THREE 15 minute periods (the longest game around) or TWO 20 minute halves depending upon the division. 
3. This will be at least 9 games GUARANTEED per season. Most teams play 10 based on how well you do in the playoffs.  
4. There will be dedicated referees and stats for the league. We have added a second referee and official scorer to the staff. We also have a weekly recap show (podcast), blogs and game videos. We post select feature game videos on YouTube along with interviews for your viewing pleasure to share with friends and family. Every team will get at least one chance to be on YouTube per season. We also have our internally produced music videos of highlights. 
5. There are THREE Divisions: PRO (high end co-ed), X (drafted higher intensity), and REC. Each division will crown a DCHL Cup Champion and a T.G.I.Sunday Bowl Champion, and/or X Cup champ. There are trophies!  
6. We will have league Happy Hours throughout the season along with other social functions and a league holiday party as well. We have periodic clinics and a SOCIAL COMMITTEE which plans and hosts outside events.  
7. We have a Women’s Travel Team (who play in tournaments across the USA) and we will be adding a Men’s Travel and Co-ed Team next year as well.

NOTES: As a goalie, you may even get extra games to fill in when other goalies cannot make it. 90% of the league costs go towards renting the gym space so we are non-profit. The remaining goes to referees, equipment and awards. Most players have played with us for a while. But mostly all started as relative newcomers so they have developed the game. We are a competitive recreational league. Our PRO division has really become loaded with good talent and teams.  Our X Division is for the hardcores who like less rules and more lenient playing. However, we emphasize RECREATIONAL and FUN COMPETITION. It is more about building a team and helping each other get better. So you will get the best of both worlds: competitive games while keeping it enjoyable.
