Design Honey at Blade

Hosted By:   Paul English & Brian Kalma

Design Honey is a new series presented by Blade focusing on bringing design minded entrepreneurs together to share knowledge and have some fun.

The Design Founded Company (November 6, 2014)

Scaling a business is hard enough as it is, but ensuring your experience is deliberately crafted for all the right reasons can set you apart from the competition.   This panel of thrilling designer founders will discuss how to instill a culture of design thinking while still moving fast and intimately getting to know your customers and how your product performs.  The balance of speed and finesse can be a tension for design-minded companies, we’ll discuss how both the software products and physical products represented by the panel iterate their way towards success.

Join us for a great panel and fun mingling from 6-8PM.

Panelists:

Eliza Becton is a co-founder and Head of Product at Bevi (formerly known as Refresh). She has a Master of Industrial Design from RISD and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Yale.

Gihan Amarasiriwardena is co-founder and CEO of Ministry of Supply. From his early teens, he’d been hacking technical gear together, like windproof fleeces for camping, and went on to study chemical engineering at MIT. Spending two summers at the Sports Technology Institute, he learned how to bring the engineering and product design principles he was passionate about to apparel.

Nick Francis is the co-founder of Help Scout, a help desk that's obsessive about a great customer experience. He's especially passionate about user experience and customer development.

Brian Kalma will be moderating this panel. He is Design Chief at Blade, he has held roles at Ministry of Supply as President, Gemvara as CXO, Gilt Groupe as Sr. Director of User Experience and Zappos as Head of Marketing & User Experience.
