Cleantech Investing & Commercialization - Thoughts from Doug Cameron and Dave Russick
Hosted By: MOJO Minnesota, Cleantech Open, Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship
Cleantech represents a diverse range of products, services, and processes, all intended to:
- Provide superior performance at lower costs, while
- Greatly reducing or eliminating negative ecological impact, at the same time as
- Improving the productive and responsible use of natural resources
Wind, solar, water purification, algae, energy efficiency, electric cars, black to green solutions, waste management, biofuels...the innovation in "cleantech" is wide-ranging and related business models are diverse. This diversity presents challenges for investors (and entrepreneurs) seeking to capitalize on the huge potential across cleantech segments.
Despite this, the new technologies and solutions are booming in Minnesota and across the Midwest. And, with the launch of First Green Partners, a new fund based in the Twin Cities focused on green and cleantech, and the Gopher Angels, a new angel investor group aimed at quality investment opportunities in, among other things, clean and green technologies, things are on the move.
Doug Cameron, co-founder of the above First Green Partners fund, and Dave Russick, co-founder of the Gopher Angels and a successful cleantech entrepreneur will share thoughts and answer questions on the rapidly evolving clean/green space and related investment and commercialization opportunities.
The discussion will be moderated by Ernest Grumbles, IP/startup counsel at Adams Monahan and co-founder of MOJO Minnesota, and Justin Kaster, an investment banker with Cherry Tree & Associates and Regional Director for North Central Cleantech Open.
Check-in is at 7:30 a.m., with discussion at 8 (and hard stop at 9). Sign up fast because space is limited!
Bagels and coffee provided.
Event co-sponsored, and space generously provided by, the Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship and the Minnesota Cup.
