Triangle Game Jam 2012
Hosted By: TriangleGameJam.com
Sorry for the short notice, but we will be having a triangle game jam this fall on November 9th thru the 11th. It will follow a similar format to the past few jams:
- Meet Friday night to discuss the theme and form teams
- Jam all day Saturday
- Jam until 3 pm or so on Sunday, wrap up, and present games
The theme will be decided by mad libs. More details to follow, but the idea is that everyone will contribute a list of 5 words in each of three categories, and we'll generate random game names from them. Anyone who is inspired by one of the generated titles can pitch their idea, and we'll whittle down the list and repeat the process.
Thanks again to John Austin at Groundwork Labs and Adam Klein of American Underground for hosting us again this year.
The jam is open to all; please feel free to forward this invitation to anyone who might be interested, but make sure to accurately RSVP.
Nitty gritty details:
Hardware:
Participants must provide their own computer setup for the Triangle Game Jam (desktop or notebook). There will be no computers available for people who do not bring their own equipment. Both wired and wireless internet will be available, but there are a limited number of wired spaces available. If you require wired internet, please try to bring a long Ethernet cable for maximum flexibility in seating.
Software:
We will have a SVN server setup to use as a source control repository if you are interested. Login details will follow closer to the event.
People have typically used XNA, Flash, UDK, or Unity in the past. If you already know you have a preference for one, please try to install it and get it setup ahead of time on the machine you intend to bring to the jam. The same goes for artists or musicians with their preferred tools of choice. We also have a list of some other interesting software for jams on the site: http://www.trianglegamejam.com/tools/
and http://www.trianglegamejam.com/libraries/
Location:
Groundwork Labs is located underground the American Tobacco Campus. If you're parking from the South deck (next to Mellow Mushroom), go north past Tyler's Taproom and enter the building near Cuban Revolution. There will be a staircase to the basement where Groundwork Labs is located. Here is a map showing the location of Cuban Revolution relative to the other buildings. http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/255/ggjmap.png
