One question which was not asked - is it truly OK to submit more than one idea? Is that an annoyance to the panel?

Canary Promotion 10/28/10

It really is ok to submit multiple ideas - as long as they are all different from each other. Usually if someone has one great idea, they have a few more up their sleeves as well. There are also a few winners from Miami who were selected for more than one project. You can check out past winners here:…llenge/miami to see how that's worked in the past.

However, it is worth mentioning that this contest isn't a lottery, so submitting the same idea multiple times isn't going to increase your chances of winning, nor is submitting the same idea in different words. These type of applications are frowned upon by Knight Arts, and may effect your chances negatively.

Good Luck! And don't forget that you now have until November 1 to Submit your ideas!

The thrust of The Arts Garage business initiative is to support arts, entertainment and nightlife by creating an accessible and supportive arts community for emerging and budding artists, as well as a place where art dealers, retailers and theater and performance artists can make themselves accessible and available to all Philadelphians and the City’s burgeoning tourism market. Does this fit within the scope of the GRANT consideration?

You might want to be in touch with "Partners for Sacred Spaces" (see Phl Inquirer article this week)

Canary Promotion 10/28/10

Yup! Sounds like your idea fits the Knight Arts Challenge Philadelphia rules:

1) Your idea has to be about the arts

2) Your idea takes place in, or benefits Philadelphia

3) You find matching funds to meet the Knight Arts Challenge Grant.

I am proposing some landscape sculptures. If the Knight Fdn. approves, is the next step working out a site in Philadelphia with say City Arts, and if they approve, then applying to a foundation for matching funds? Lots of "IFS" in that scenario.

Canary Promotion 10/21/10

Hi Chris, great questions. We'll be able to answer these and many other questions on the 27th. See you there!

Ola Solan 10/29/10

Perhaps we can create a synergy, The Arts Garage can use a few 3-D landscape sculptures.
