GR Mobile Dev December 2011

Alright doods, we're getting close to our next meeting and I wanted to follow up and confirm some details.

We will be meeting Thursday, December 8 at the same time, same place: Rapidparts Inc. 2950 Walkent Ct. NW, Grand Rapids MI 49544. 

We hoped to get a few knowledgable speakers to demonstrate some code on specific mobile topics but what we ended up deciding to do something a little different. There WILL BE development so bring your laptops with whatever SDK you want installed and ready to go. Do a few tutorials to get a familiar with the environment because we will be diving a little deeper than the first meeting. 

What we wanted to do is create an app as group that hits many of the design/development aspects of mobile from beginning to whatever end you want. At the meeting we will discuss what app but post ideas to this board before then and we'll discuss em. The idea is that as a group we can walk through development demonstrating things like feed aggregation, caching, maps, social integration, multimedia, etc. As a member you will have the option to work independently at your own pace or with a group. As we discuss each months topic we will ask individuals to share their solution and whatever code they want. The app will be for demonstrative purposes but you will have the option of shipping your app if you want (markets have plenty of room for multiple apps of the same type). I will go over some more details of how we see this playing out but I wanted to get the idea out there before the meeting.

Again, if you have app ideas that you are willing to share with the group and think it has potential to hit many mobile development areas, POST IT. I will share with the group one idea in another thread and I encourage everyone to participate in the discussion.
