Presentation: Current best practices in backup and restore

Abstract:  Current technologies and approaches to enterprise backup and restore, with some case studies from recent large scale solutions and a few of the pitfalls to avoid in this area of system administration.  Questions and discussion to follow over pizza.

Speaker: Siobhán Ellis is the Backup and Recovery Capability Lead at HP Enterprise Services.  She is responsible for backup and restore services strategy in the AJP region and has over 25 years' experience including senior product manager at Legato/EMC and principal technical consultant at EnStor.

The meeting is held downstairs at the premises of Atlassian (map) from 7pm, however we gather from 6:30pm across the road at The Shelbourne Hotel.  Members and visitors are both welcome.

SAGE-AU was formed in 1993 to advance the profession of System Administration by raising awareness of the need for System Administrators, and educating in technical as well as professional issues.  The NSW regional group meets on the 3rd Tuesday each month.
