hey everyone,
unfortunately we can't make it out to the meetup tonight, but we are looking for hackers who want to join our team. Please contact us at nearby@prximity.com if you are interested. Equity is on the table for the right fit.
Prximity is a location-driven event filter to better connect you with the places you live, work, and like to be. New York City is enormous, and there are a dizzying number of events and activities going on at any one time. But NYC is an incredibly local place, and even seasoned New Yorkers frequently miss out on the great local scene that surrounds them. Our goal is to bridge that gap. We are looking for aspiring entrepreneurs who have an interest in how a hyperlocal city guide can change the way you connect with the people around you.

Sorry, going to NY Web Standards Meetup this time.
Gals and Guys -
I am starting to put together a packet of information for people interested in starting up a company here in the NYC area. If you have any thoughts or suggestions (or you want to work with me on this) please email me on my profile page.
Things that I am going to include:
* office space
* places to hack with internet availability
* approachable people in the community
* lawyers available to help
* accountants available to help
* Meetups / events / groups / tribes / etc
* Etc (things that come up tomorrow night)
I recently quit my job to work on my startup full time and would have found having a document like this extremely helpful so I thought that it might be helpful to our community as well. My goal is to have something to hand out by Meetup #6.
Thanks!
No thoughts to add here, but definitely encouragement. This will be a fantastic help when you get this out to folks. Even something as simple as a list of a few places to start on each of your bullet points would be a big help. The first answer is always the hardest, but then you at least know *what* to look for.
Please send this out to the e-mail list, too, since not everybody can make all of the meetups.
Have to host the NY Web Standards Meetup.
Sorry I won't be able to make it -- wish I had know about it earlier! Next time, more than a two day notice might be helpful.
Wish I could, back in sf. Keep me posted.
This is the perfect time in the Fall to still go outdoors. Is Madison Sq. Park out of the picture now?
Scattered T-storms are supposed to be coming to the city on Thursday, so I'd imagine it's safer to go indoors this time around.
